Grand Hotel La Pace

This hotel has a faded luxuriousness about it. The staff are lovely and the hotel is spotless. Views are spectacular. The hotel is a little out of the way especially in the evening when the courtesy buses are not frequent. We booked a suite which was lovely but can see other rooms may not have as great an outlook. Food becomes repetitive and at what this hotel now costs with travel agents we have opted for a cheaper one next time. If the price was not so high we would consider here again.

Hotel & especially staff excellent, food very good, good free bus to town centre saved a lot of walking cannot praise staff enough always helpfull & happy.Amalfi coast road a must but return by boat great views of coastline

Hotel was not up to 4-star standard. Very dated and food average. Staff was very nice. They were mould growing on the balcony and the shower was not very easy to use. Quite a bit out if the town but there is a small couch from hotel.

We booked a weeks break to explore the area and recharge our batteries. We knew nothing about the hotel but booked as the package was such good value. The hotel is near enough to the train station for those of you that like exploring - there is a train that goes to both Herculaneum and Pompeii which was easy to catch. The staff at the hotel were all fantastic. We were greeted every day with smiles and nothing was too much trouble. Service in the restaurant was efficient and professional, as a vegetarian I was able to find plenty to eat although had this not been the case the chef would have cooked something additional. There were a number of people we spoke to that had dietary challenges and all had been accommodated for. The pool area was well maintained with plenty of sun beds and parasols. The views from the pool area across the bay are spectacular. Bar staff were great, service excellent, again nothing was too much trouble. Our room was clean and comfortable. We will definitely book to go there again for a short break as have come back relaxed and recharged having been totally spoilt by the service we received.

Wonderful hotel, beautiful rooms and the staff could not do enough for you. We will definitely be back. We had an amazingly relaxed break, the food was great with plenty of choice. We went in July and the weather was great. The age group of people staying there was predominantly 50 plus, which suited us perfectly.

The hotel looks lovely from the outside and when you walk around the reception areas. Other parts are a little dated. The 'restaurant' setting is nothing to shout about but the serving staff are excellent and they always have a smile on their faces. The food choice and quality in my opinion is excellent but make sure you take advantage of the appetisers or you will find the served dishes a little light. The temperature of the food was also not an issue. If having the meat I would recommend the carvery or the meat laid out as appetisers as the main course waiter served meat was sometimes overcooked or bland. Overall I would give the food and service in the restaurant a 4 1/2 star rating. The bedrooms were very good, being spacious with large bathrooms and having a lovely Italianate feel. One issue was the bed. They are very hard and over the 2 weeks we did not have a comfortable night. When we arrived we were told we were being 'upgraded' from a French Balcony with Garden View room to a pool facing room with full balcony. We thought was a nice touch so we signed the acceptance of the uprade. The room turned out to be a dirty, ground floor room with a door to a terrace with views to a brick wall. When I queried it they said the terrace was a balcony!! The walls were covered in dirt and the terrace was by a footpath where residents could walk to and from the pool. Hardly an upgrade. We ended up (after 2 days of complaining) with a 5th floor room that was larger, immaculate and had views from a balcony towards the Bay and Vesuvius. The pools is lovely and the sunbeds have a sun visor which is a bonus. The bolts come loose though but if you go to the bar they will give you a tool for tightening the visor up. The drinks are mediocre, being local brands. Beer is good and there is proper Coke. The cocktails are disgusting. Don't bother with their version of Malibu and pineapple, etc!! Bar service is excellent. Recommended excursions are The Amalfi Coast Experience and the Taste of Rome. EXCELLENT GUIDES. Recommend visiting Pompeii. It's a must visit but hot and tiring so best done over 2 visits if you are not fully fit and you want to see everything. The Brothel is interesting!! DON'T HIRE A CAR. I was going to but after reading reviews decided against it. So pleased I didn't do it. Hotel Amenities were a let down. There aren't many extras. Games room is a joke. It feels more like the hotel from 'The Shining' down there. Don't go alone it's scary!!

Puddings at meal time was average could have done with more choices, Outdoor snack bar was very poor, food was always cold and not much choice, Wine was very poor quality, Juices at breakfast was very diluted no taste at all.
