Fantastic family holidays with plenty to do and see

Golf is a major plus point for the resort as there are three top quality golf courses within walking distance. In fact, the Golf Santa Ponsa I course has been used for the PGA Balearic Islands Golf Open six times, so you can imagine how spectacular this course is.

The close proximity of a great beach is often an important factor for major resorts, and luckily Santa Ponsa has one close at hand. Santa Ponsa Beach is right at the doorstep of most hotels in Santa Ponsa, and it’s a lovely spacious stretch of soft golden sand. There’s even a little children’s playground complete with a climbing frame and slide. You see, they’ve thought of everything!

In terms of activities and entertainment, Santa Ponsa enjoys a prime location. It has its own family-focused centre with several sports bars and restaurants serving international cuisine. It’s also close enough to Magalluf and Palma Nova so you can take advantage of the water parks and even bigger selection of bars at these resorts.

Monuments, water parks and great golfing nearby
Within Santa Ponsa itself, the main monument to head to is the Cruz de la Conquista. This stone cross is said to mark the spot where King James I of Spain landed on Majorca in 1229. He then went on to reclaim the island after 300 years of Moorish rule. Today, the best thing about the monument is that it takes in fantastic views of the surrounding Mediterranean Sea. Get your camera at the ready!

Fancy a game of golf? You’ll be in luck on holidays in Santa Ponsa. There are no less than three golf courses surrounding the resort, named Golf Santa Ponsa I, II and III. Santa Ponsa I is a tournament level course that has hosted the PGA Balearic Islands Golf Open six times, while Santa Ponsa II has beautiful water features and the 9-hole Santa Ponsa III is perfect for beginners.

Holidays in Santa Ponsa are just 7km away from Magalluf, and that’s great news if you’re having your holidays with your family. Magalluf has a massive choice of daytime activities, including the Western Water Park.  There’s a large choice of super-fast slides here, and little ones will be entertained for hours whilst you can choose to laze by the poolside if you prefer. Another water park, named Aqualand, is also just across the road from the Western Water Park. Young children may prefer Aqualand, as the rides are generally a little smaller and slower here.

While you’re over in Magalluf, you may want to check out the House of Katmandu. There’s a whole host of attractions at this wacky upside-down fun house. Tour the house yourself and see robots, statues and visual effects, or pop over to the 4D Cinema for an all-action experience.

A wide choice of cuisines from across the globe
Santa Ponsa is one of the most popular resorts for holidays from Britain, so it may come as no surprise to learn that there are plenty of home comforts here. Visit the many British cafes, pubs and restaurants here for a warm welcome and English-speaking staff and owners. Plus, a British classic like steak and kidney pie with chips tastes even better when you’re in the bright Majorcan sun!

But some of the most popular restaurants in Santa Ponsa take their inspiration from other influences across the globe. How about American-style char grilled steaks and burgers? Or a traditional Irish breakfast and Italian-style stone baked pizzas? Whichever type of cuisine takes your fancy, you’re sure to find it in Santa Ponsa.

Of course, you could always venture out to nearby Magalluf and Palma Nova should you wish. At these resorts you’ll find a similar variety of British food, open-air barbecues and international offerings.

Open stretches of golden sand
The main local beach here will be within easy reach wherever you have your holidays in Santa Ponsa. It’s also named Santa Ponsa Beach after the resort itself. It boasts a large, wide stretch of golden sand where pine trees serve as a pleasant green backdrop to your sunbathing. Following in the family-friendly nature of Santa Ponsa in general, the beach leads to safe, shallow waters and there’s even a little climbing frame to keep the kids occupied.

Just a little further south, Cala Toro offers a complete change of scenery. This small bay is encircled by the terracotta coloured rocks of the headland. Plus, the beach is protected from strong winds and waters by the nearby Port Adriano. This exclusive port has been modernised recently and is well worth a wander to see the many gleaming yachts harboured here.

Your choice of three types of nightlife
Holidays in Santa Ponsa are ideally placed to give you maximum choice on a night out. As Santa Ponsa is one of the most popular resorts in Majorca you’ll find the town centre more than adequate in its variety of bars and pubs. They range in style here from British, Irish and Scottish pubs to themed bars with all sorts of memorabilia from famous TV shows. You’ll notice that the Irish pubs seem to outnumber the rest, but they offer a great night out, often complete with live singing where the whole family is encouraged to join in!

Head just under a mile north and you’ll reach Costa de la Calma. There’s a main street here that packs in the majority of the best bars and restaurants all within easy walking distance. And the great thing about many of the bars in Santa Ponsa and Costa de la Calma is that they’re set up to welcome families. Most of them have pool tables or even small outdoor swimming tables to keep everyone entertained both day and night.

For yet another change of scene, making the short journey 5km east to Magalluf is a good idea. Magalluf has some great drinks deals, especially at the bars packed onto the main strip named Punta Bella. The two famous clubs BCM and Mallorca Rocks will help you to really get the party started too. However, it’s not all about raving it up in Magalluf, and a lot of the bars just off the main strip are much quieter and perfectly suitable for families.
