Valamar Argosy Hotel

Beautiful location on a headland looking Northwest up the coast which provided great views of the sunsets. Pleasant open public areas with indoor seating over 2 levels including a quiet lounge area on the lower floor. Fantastic pool area with 2 infinity pools looking out to sea as well as a small kids pool. They have a small pool area bar serving all drink types and food. The restaurant is well set out with access to the veranda for outdoor eating. We only ate breakfast at the hotel whilst we were there but, there was a huge range of food options available which would meet all dietary needs. They have a concierge on duty all day to help with travel tickets and booking excursions and they have a small shop on site. The hotel is situated 3-4 miles from Dubrovnik old town but, there is a bus stop approximately 200 yards from the hotel that can drop you right outside the main gate to the old Town.

This hotel is amazing. The lobby is really lovely when you first walk, the rooms are a nice size with a lovely balcony. There are cosy areas to sit all over the grounds in the sun and in the shade. There are 2 huge infinity pools which are truly gorgeous. You can float around looking at the amazing views all along the coast. Pathways to the beach are well maintained. The breakfast is brilliant. All fresh cooked food with many items cooked to order for you. It is a little out but great if you want to just relax plus the bus network is very good and comes very near to the hotel.

Valamar Argosy Hotel - good food, friendly service, pool area with fantastic view. The hotel gave me a complimentary bubbly for my birthday. There were plenty of sun loungers and we had no need to fight for a place near the pool.

Although we could not fault the service received or the food, which was amazing at all times, catering for everyone, there was one thing that annoyed us: we've never been to a half-board hotel where although you could get tea, coffee, water and orange juice at breakfast time, in the evening if you wanted a drink with your meal you had to pay an extortionate price. We've always had a glass of house wine, soft drink or water offered in every other half-board accommodation we've been in before. So we used to go to the local minimarket, buy our wine and beers and have a drink in our room after dinner in the evening before going for a walk.We had drinks making facility in our room which was regularly topped up (I had my own with us anyway, which I always take on holiday). I also like the bath robes and slippers there for us! That was handy. I didn't want to take my fluffy dressing gown on holiday!All in all, apart from being an expensive area to stay in (much cheaper in other parts of Croatia), we enjoyed being in a very good hotel for 7 nights.

An excellent hotel, comfortable bedrooms, polite and attentive staff who could not do enough to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We were there for a short mini break and would not hesitate to return.

Everything satisfactory, staff, cleanliness and food all very good. Large hotel and took a while to know the way around. All facilities available and everyone ready to help when information needed, any time.

This hotel is a marvellous find! The location must be the nicest we have been in, the views are fabulous! The refurbishment is nearly complete (the new pool opened the day we left) and everything looks lovely. Our room was very nice, we had a garden/side sea view. The bathroom was large and spacious but the sink was a pest! it looked lovely, long and modern, but the minute the tap was on more than a trickle the water splashed out and you got soaked. The practice of sealing up the fridge/mini bar is crazy and I went and asked to be able to put water/ juice in it (beer!). This was allowed though it only took three bottles as the minibar contents were not removed. We had a drip outside our room and when it rained heavily (twice on our stay) it was like a drum being beaten outside..it caused 2 sleepless nights! The food was very good, great choice both at breakfast and dinner. Definately could not fault it at all, and the staff were very nice and helpful. The bus service to Dubrovnik Old Town was amazing, so reliable! And the nearby town of Lapad was a great find as the wee square near the hotel was good but would be boring every night. The hotel entertainment wasn't too great and the whole lounge area lacked any atmosphere. The drink prices were extortinate and we never bought anything more than a bottle of water at dinner (£4). All in all we had a lovely holiday and would definately recommend this hotel, the views alone will stay with us for a long time.
