Experience the majesty of Majorca holidays When it comes to holidays in Majorca, everyone always thinks of dreamy golden beaches leading to clear blue waters. Well actually, they’ve got the right idea, as Majorca makes the most of being a Mediterranean island by having over seventy beaches just waiting to be discovered.

Gorgeous beaches and exciting attractions on every coast If a spot of lazing on a sunlit beach is top of your list for your holidays in Majorca, we heartily recommend Alcudia, Cala d’Or and Calas de Mallorca. Alcudia has a six-mile long beach of soft white sand, while Cala d’Or and Calas de Mallorca have the kind of secluded little coves that allow you to sunbathe in complete peace. In fact, with the dense inland forestry and dramatic Tramuntana Mountain Range dominating the west coast, there’s ample opportunity to unwind amongst scenic surroundings on holidays in Majorca. Puerto Pollensa is the place to be for taking in those picture perfect sights of the mountains. It’s an incredibly relaxing place for couples, as the irrepressibly romantic Pine Walk is lined with shady sweet smelling pines, authentic Spanish restaurants and grand villas. Port d’Alcudia and Playa de Muro near Alcudia also have a similar calming atmosphere and an upmarket style. But holidays in Majorca don’t have to be all about relaxing - the southern resorts of Palma Nova and Santa Ponsa have plenty of activities to keep all ages entertained. Palma Nova has three fantastic mini-golf courses and a marine zoo is close by, while Santa Ponsa even has a mini children’s playground on its beach! Another resort in the south of Majorca, Magalluf, has just as much fun on offer for the daytime as the night time, with two top water parks and a lively fun house at the resort. However, it must be said that it’s at the night time when Magalluf really comes alive. Its main strip has many bars and clubs with big name DJs in the summer and some very cheap drink deals, but there are quieter pubs just off the central street too.
The best of Majorca is right here! For all-round fun for the whole family, it’s hard to beat water parks, and luckily holidays in Majorca have them in abundance. The best resorts to have your holidays if you like water parks are Magalluf and Alcudia. Magaluf has Western Water Park and Aqualand nearby and they get very busy in the summer. But you’ll get the best value if you stay at the Club Mac Alcudia Resort & Waterpark with Jet2holidays. Here, unlimited access to the local Hidropark is included with your holiday. Most of the cultural delights in Majorca can be found in the capital city, Palma. It’s only 15 minutes away from Palma Nova (and it’s even closer if you’re staying in Portals Nous) and there are breathtaking structures like the intricately designed Le Seu Cathedral, the huge Bellver Castle and the Palau de l’Amudaina palace. But for even older sights, head to the Roman ruins of Pollentia near the old town in Alcudia. Incredibly, the remnants of these villas and temples date back to 123BC. Holidays in Majorca are even more richly lavished with natural wonders. The overawing splendour of the Tramuntana Mountain Range is fully accessible from Puerto Pollensa. All ages and abilities will be able to find a walking trail that suits them for viewing the highest peak in the Balearic Islands. By contrast, the marshy wetlands of S’Albufera near Alcudia and Playa de Muro are fairly flat, but they’re also dense with vegetation that plays host to wide range of wild birds and fish. On the eastern coast, a visit to the Caves of Drach simply must be made if you’re staying in Cala d’Or or Calas de Mallorca. You can partake in a boat ride on a large underground lake here that is illuminated beautifully by cleverly placed lights. Picking out the best beaches in Majorca leaves you really spoilt for choice. It’s certainly true that Alcudia is often said to have some of the best stretches of coastline, and it’s easy to see why. The central Alcudia Beach has six miles of pristine white sand, all backed by huge shady palm trees. Magalluf Beach is mightily impressive too, as it's a long arc of golden sand complete with a renovated, thoroughly modern promenade. But for beaches that are a little more secluded, you’ll love the seven (yes seven!) coves that make up Cala d’Or. Cala Gran is the biggest beach here (although it’s only 40m wide), but for pure beauty Cala Serna is highly recommended. It’s surrounded by long, pine covered headlands on both sides, and the crystalline water remains glassily calm at all times. Calas de Mallorca also features three compact coves that are pretty similar to Cala d’Or. The only real difference with the beaches at Calas de Mallorca, such as Cala Domingo Grans is that they’re a little more open, leaving you with a bit more space to stretch out on the sand.
Ideal for families Majorca’s many safe beaches are fantastic for families, although Alcudia is probably one of the best resorts overall. It has a brilliantly colourful water park and six miles of pristine white sand. Cala d'Or is also a top choice thanks to its peaceful nature and family-friendly restaurants. A third option comes in the form of Santa Ponsa, as it has a welcoming atmosphere and is close to several wild and wacky waterparks, crazy golf courses and activity centres. Ideal for friends
For the ultimate party capital in Majorca, head to Magalluf. Its bars and clubs combine cheap drinks, loud music and a lively atmosphere for thrilling nights out. That's not fogetting Palma Nova nearby. As a slightly calmer alternative, it's still close enough to enjoy all the bars and clubs of Magalluf, whilst also enjoying the more sedate atmosphere. Ideal for couples Couples will love the peaceful nature of Puerto Pollensa. Take a stroll along its pine walk and give the temptingly authentic restaurants a try. Calas de Mallorca also offers you secluded golden coves. But if you'd prefer to soak up the culture instead of the sun, you should head for the capital Palma. Marvelling at its spire-strewn cathedral, checking out chic shops or enjoying cosmopolitan cocktail bars by the marina are all experiences best shared.
