Lanzarote Destination Guide

Lanzarote

Cheap package holidays from Jet2holidays.com to Lanzarote unlock this sun-bathed, volcanic paradise. Just 37 miles long and 12 miles wide, Lanzarote offers a remarkable variety of holiday attractions to easily deserve its place as one of the most popular Canary Islands.

With average temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees, plenty of sunshine and low rainfall, Lanzarote is also an ideal destination virtually any time of year with Jet2holidays.com.

Holiday in Lanzarote to See the Volcano Close at Parque Timanfaya

Although all the Canaries are volcanic, nowhere is this explosive past more apparent than the lunar landscapes of Lanzarote, where rocky cones, craters and burnt-black lava flows give the distinct impression you've landed on another planet. No package holiday to the island is complete without seeing these up close at Parque Timanfaya but this is only half the story.

Having explored the volcanic plains it is time to delve beneath the surface with a visit to Cueva de los Verdes – caves formed 3,000 years ago. Whilst there you may even catch some live music performances as the caves are used for folk shows.

Sandy beaches are strung around the coast where whitewashed holiday towns and modern resorts have been thoughtfully developed, with no high rise blocks allowed! For a taste of Lanzarote, in almost any restaurant, you're sure to enjoy the salted and 'wrinkly' Papas Arugadas with a red or green Mojo sauce.

Fabulous Beaches on the Southern Coast of Lanzarote

Touching down at Arrecife airport for your cheap package holiday, places you conveniently close to the established and lively holiday town of a Puerto Del Carmen, on the sunny southern coast of the island. Originally a fishing village, the resort still has excellent restaurants around the harbour, 6km of golden sandy beaches with safe bathing for children and an after-dark, seafront mecca of party bars and cool clubs. Only a mile or so from the action is the smaller, modern resort of Playa de los Pocillos, also with a blue flag beach and a quieter spot favoured by families.

The newest holiday hotspot of the south is the tastefully developed Playa Blanca, with three large bays for relaxing in the sun and cooling off in sheltered waters. For designer boutiques and smart restaurants, the Marina Rubicon is the place to be, overlooking luxury yachts and with sea views to Fuerteventura, just a 20 minute trip by boat.

Cheap Holidays to Lanzarote for a Relaxing Time

North of Arrecife is the upmarket resort of Costa Teguise, with the whitest sandy beaches and a welcome breeze for when the temperatures soars. This also makes windsurfing a popular pursuit. More peaceful and laid back than the southern resorts, the Costa Teguise is ideal for families and the perfect base for Lanzarote highlights including the Sunday Market in the old Teguise, the underground grottoes of La Cueva de los Verdes and the underground lagoon of Jameos del Agua.

Markets are a popular source of entertainment for holidaymakers with the large one in Costa Teguise supported by a similar one in Playa Blanca on Wednesdays. Wherever you choose on Lanzarote, the whole island is yours to enjoy!

There is plenty to do and see in the sun of Lanzarote and with flights to Lanzarote airport you’ll never be far away from all the main attractions and holiday entertainment.
