An Explosive Party in Palma de Majorca

Majorca is no stranger to a good party, but the city of Palma is currently gearing up for one of the island’s biggest – the Nit de Foc, taking place on the evening of the Sant Joan fiesta. 

This is when Palma comes alive with street parties, beach bonfires and live music, and the skies above the city quite literally explode with fireworks as the locals celebrate the arrival of summer. Fire is an important part of Nit de Foc – its name does translate to ‘Night of Fire’, after all – as the element is believed to ward off evil spirits. You may also want to take part in some of the traditions of Nit de Foc, such as that of writing things that you’d wish to forget about on pieces of paper and then throwing them into a fire.
