Porto Mare Hotel

This hotel was really good and we’d happily return there. Staff were all excellent and the complex was really well managed. Pool area and surrounding gardens were absolutely lovely. Great place to stay and explore the island.

We are regular guests at this hotel and it lives up to its reputation. Staff are great, friendly and very helpful. Room was fab, even though there was a mix up to begin with, it was soon sorted. Cannot say enough good things about the Hotel. My wife and I love it there.

Wonderful location and views. Our room was spacious, spotless and well maintained. Huge selection for breakfast, all food freshly cooked Dinners again, great choices, we choosed a meal deal, saving on the evening meal costs. The grounds were beautifully kept, 5 pools all set amongst the grounds

we booked this holiday to see the flower carnival.the hotel was a few miles out of the city,but overlooked the sea.one could book a free bus into the main area of the city every day.the hotel was beautiful,with lovely rooms,good swimming pools.great gardens.Dining was a pleasure as one could pick our own table.The food was self-service,but with a great selection of Quality food,with a different menu for every day ,Lunch and Dinner.Breakfast had a great selectionThe service in the Dining room was very good and Staff very friendly.Our bedroom was quite large but a pleasure to be inwith a good view towards the sea.the cleaning Ladies very friendly and our room was cleaned every day to a high standard..All in All a great hotel for a holiday in Madiera.

first rate hotel. from reception to bar to cleaners all staff very friendly and accommodating. This is our second visit and just as good as previous. The entertainment provided each evening is also very good and a good end to the day.

A wonderful hotel with an excellent selection of restaurants of good value, all the staff were helpful and friendly, the indoor pool was very relaxing, entertainment in the bars and restaurants was good. The room was spacious, comfortable and with good views

Our first trip to Madeira was magical and we will visit the island again. Lots still to visit on this island in the Atlantic, particularly the mountains and wonderful lavada trails. Find out more of the real island life.

great hotel .fantastic food.happy staff.room overlooking the beautiful tropical gardens and sea.rooms large and well equipped,beds very comfortable staff kept it spotless. curtis bus to funchal throughout the day. have been 2 times previously.hope to go again next year

A very welcoming and friendly hotel in a good location with facilities suitable for most ages. The hotel staff are friendly and the food is delicious. It has a most beautiful well-cared for garden and grounds. It's like a small paradise. It is ideally located for public transport to Funchal or a twenty minute walk to the city. The promenade is very close. I would rate it as a four star plus.

My friend and I went to Madeira for the first time this year and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had a beautiful large room with a huge balcony. It also had a little kitchen area with a fridge. The view was spectacular - we were able to see the hotel grounds with its beautiful gardens but we also had a great view of the sea and rock. We swam in the Spa indoor pool which opened out onto an outside swimming area. There was a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere everywhere!. We went to Happy Hour every evening with good quality drinks and we were happy with Half Board as the Buffet food was of a good standard with a good variety especially at breakfast! We ate in the Mediterranean restaurant one evening too and the quality of the food was excellent! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and we are already thinking about our next time!

We spent a week at The Porto Mare Hotel thoroughly enjoyed our time. Rooms were very spacious with good bathrooms. Breakfasts were good with plenty of choice. Only niggle was the poor quality fruit juice. It was a very watered down offering, not worthy of such a good hotel. Lunches were good at the outdoor venue. Gardens excellent especially the scented garden and orchid garden. Would definitely return to The Porto Mare next time we visi5 Madeira.

This is a lovely hotel. Really clean, very welcoming. Lots to do but it's mostly quite low key and not in your face. Food is great. We loved the Portuguese lessons and the amazing garden tour which is not to be missed. Aururo's pilates and pool aerobics classes were also brilliant. Would visit again tomorrow. Would move in! The gardens are breathtaking and there are plenty of pools, spas, classes, bars and entertainment. The traditional Portuguese trio in the restaurant were also fabulous.

We have been many times to Madeira. This is the first time at the Porto Mare. We will look no further in future. Setting and gardens are a delight. Rooms big and comfortable. Beautifully maintained. The staff so helpful. We stayed over Christmas and New Year. The Gala Dinners on both occasions were outstanding. Felt as though we had been really pampered.

Everything about this hotel was good. The bedroom was very comfortable. The grounds of the hotel were fantastic. The meals were good - the breakfast was superb with plenty of choice for everyone. The evening meal was good apart from the choice of vegetables. The three a la carte restaurants were superb. No shortage of loungers either. We booked half board but when we decided to go into Funchal to eat one evening, we were able to have lunch instead of the evening meal. What a good idea!
