Silchoro Apartments

The Silchoro Apartments are dreadful, the worst hotel I have stayed in during my 70 year lifespan, with very basic furnishings & facilities & very little storage for clothes & a postage stamp TV with a remote available from the reception at an extra cost. In addition the beds were extremely uncomfortable having fitted solid plastic protection to the old mattresses. The Silchoro apartments urgently needs drastic updating & is advertised as a 3 star but in my opinion would be extremely lucky to achieve a 1 star status & I am extremely surprised that this location is included in Jet 2 package tours. There was no wifi or air conditioning in the bedrooms & the bathroom shower / appliances are basic & date back to the 1970-80s 7 do not appear to have any maintenance carried out. The lack of air condition in the bedrooms required the balcony doors to be kept open during the day / night & because of the location of the hotel close to a busy road there was lots of noise from the road traffic / rowdy people returning from clubs / bars throughout the night which caused considerable disruption to sleeping. The reception area & bar/ restaurant were also basic with the staff generally disinterested with very limited wifi in the reception desk area which had to be continuously logged in each day . The only hotel facility acceptable was the outdoor pool although there were not enough loungers & many were broken & it cost extra for foam cushions. The food in the bar restaurant was not good & appeared to be low quality & the shop in the reception had limited stock & was very expensive. In summary, needless to say, I will never return to the Silchoro Apartments & I would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Albufeira

We found the staff very rude and unhelpful and im pretty sure they dont know how to smile. There was no entertainment in the hotel which would of been nice. The accomodation itself was very dated, matresses were probably from the 1950s you could feel the springs very uncomfortable they also had clear wholes thwhich had just been sewed up with a piece of material covering them. The hot water is very limited. Its not very clean with our apartment having alot of dust in the rooms and egg all over the outside.

We have just got back from Silchoro Apartments after a 11 night stay. On arriving the hotel was up a side street and our coach dropped us outside a locked gate. After spending a few minutes trying to get in we realised nobody was going to greet us so made our way around to find the main entrance. Half way round a member of staff greeted us and offered to help with cases. On checking in the Receptionist didn't seem to have a clue what he was doing. He asked me if he already gave me my key which he didn't but have me a card with a room number on ( floor 5) after a few minutes he presented me with a key with the number 1014 on it. I told him this was incorrect as I should have a pool view room and normally these rooms are a few floors up. He told me that this was the room I was in and I argued as I was given a card with a level 5 room. The manager wasn't present but the Receptionist called him on his mobile and explained the issue but was in Portuguese so I didn't know what was being said. After a few minutes the receptionist told me this is the room I am in and if I don't want it I will have to find another hotel. I was appalled by this but asked if I could speak to the manager. I came on the phone to him and he was actually quite helpful. He explained the hotel was full and I will be in this room for 1 night only and I was to see him the next day to arrange moving rooms. I felt so much better but do think that the manager should have told the Receptionist to save any upset. The next day we were moved rooms thankfully and the one we was in was awful! In a separate building to the main hotel and felt more like a hostel. Overall the hotel was very basic. Definitely in need of modernisation and the rooms were very basic and not that comfortable. Stayed at this hotel for 4 days for a hen party with a party of 18! Staff friendly, hotel was clean and rooms basic but spacious, pool was big and plenty of space for big groups! Food served was really tasty and prices at the bar are fair!

Very good apartments. Had all our requirements and was within walking distance to supermarket, The Strip and beach. Courtesy bus went 3 times each day to the Old Town. There is also a small supermarket on site.
