The historic centrepieces of Prague
The city of Prague has a rich history dating back over a thousand years. Perhaps it's for this reason that a grand atmosphere still hangs in the air today. That's not to say the city is overwhelming - visit the enduringly romantic Charles Bridge in the morning and you'll see mist gently rising from the River Vlata below. Such a peaceful place sets the scene for the cobbled city walls and intricate architecture ahead. Onwards and into the heart of the city, the Prague Castle holds countless attractions of its own, where you'll rise into the hills overlooking the gothic spire skyline. And whether you move on to the detailed buttresses of the St. Vitus Cathedral or the more lavishly decorated interiors of the Lobkowicz Castle, you'll notice that Prague's historic heart has kept a very distinctive, yet unusually uniform design.

But Prague has so much more to offer than just beautiful historical attractions. The newer districts are alive with glossy modern buildings shaped out of angular glass and metal. Stop and admire the famous Dancing House and you'll see an asymmetrical structure completely at odds with the neat townhouses that surround it. It's also in these up-and-coming areas you'll discover the most vibrant parts of the nightlife. For instance, the district of Zizkov is alive with glowing neon lights and modern minimalist decor. You'll find almost all of Prague has some fantastic pubs that serve the syrupy smooth beers that the country is famous for.
