Costa Dorada Holidays

Show on Map

A truly awesome theme park awaits you at PortAventura, and there’s 150 miles of golden beaches on this stretch of coast too. Lively Salou is the most popular place to stay here.

Golden stretches

It’s not surprising Costa Dorada means ‘golden coast’. The soft, sandy beaches here are to die for. And more than 80 of them have the Blue Flag for cleanliness.

Europe’s biggest theme park

Fun-packed PortAventura gives you six ‘worlds’ to explore as well as legendary rides like the Dragon Khan rollercoaster and the fearsome Hurakan Condor giant drop. Once you’ve enjoyed the adrenaline rush, you can cool off in the waterpark.

Holidays how you want them

If you like your getaways laid back Cambrils is ideal, with scenic walks and soft, sandy beaches. La Pineda has the Port Adventura adventure park on the doorstep. And lively Salou is a vibrant mix of family fun and lively nightlife.

Best beaches

For family fun, watersports-packed Llevant beach in Salou and Levante beach in Cap Salou are pretty perfect. Out-of-the way, unspoiled Cala Fonda is surrounded by woodlands just a few kilometres from Tarragona.

Top sights

Tarragona, a port city and the province’s capital, has the remains of a Roman amphitheatere by the sea, and an old town with twisting cobbled streets to explore. Sophisticated, stylish Barcelona is in easy reach of the Costa Dorada. Take a stroll down La Rambla, admire La Sagrada Família cathedral and look at Gaudi’s creations in Park Gǖell.

Out and about

The Costa Dorada is activity central. Not only have you got PortAventura, there’s the Aquopolis waterpark, Aqualeon Park with its animal safari, and paintballing at Bosc Adventura Park. Add seven beautiful golf courses, downhill biking and 4x4 safaris and you’ll always find something to keep you busy.

Eating and drinking

Freshly caught baby squid and octopus are some of the specialities here. Also look out for suquet – tasty fish stew – and romesco sauce made with red peppers. Some of Spain’s best vineyards are on the Costa Dorada, so make sure you try some of the local wines as well as the sparkling Cava. Cambrils is considered the best place for restaurants.

Reus is the most commercial city of the Costa Dorada. It has over 600 stores in downtown pedestrian streets, where you can find an exciting array of styles and the most prestigious brands. There’s lots of souvenir shopping in the resorts too - you’ll find big names like Zara, Superdry, Desigual and H&M at the Parc Central de Tarragona mall. Markets are held all over the Costa Dorada – the biggest one is Bonavista on Sunday mornings. Here you can haggle over lace, ceramics, shoes and more.

The ‘Slammers’ area of Salou, with its bars and clubs has the liveliest nightlife on the Costa Dorada. For something a little quieter, the chiringuitos – bars that line the 7 kilometre beach at Cambrils – are the perfect place for a cocktail.
