You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you roam around San Luis. Much of it has retained its original Spanish charm and you’ll see traditional Menorcan houses around every corner. The three windmills, which date back centuries, are great to photograph too!
Feeling peckish? You’re in the right place. There’s a super range of restaurants suitable for all budgets, including traditional tapas, laidback, café-style dining and high-quality tasting menus. Sa Pedrera d’es Pujol is a sophisticated restaurant renowned for its corneto de queso de Mahón – Mahon cheese cone.
Menorca
Drive for 15-minutes from Son Bou towards the centre of the island and you'll reach the pretty whitewashed village of Alaior, known as the 'cultural capital' of Menorca. The centre is steeped in charming medieval history, and all the steep narrow roads lead up to the Church of Santa Eualalia that looks down over the town.
Menorca
Take a tour of Bodegas Binifadet to find out how wine is made. The wineries here can be visited all year round and the tours give a comprehensive history of Binifadet wine and show you how it's produced and stored. The bodega is open Monday to Friday but the restaurant attached is open every day.
Menorca
Postcards may be a little bit passé, but if you've ever seen one of Menorca it will undoubtedly be of the virgin beaches at Macarelleta. The shallow waters give the bays a tropical turquoise hue and it's less-crowded than other beaches nearby and a stunning place to swim and sunbathe. In high season, it's best accessed by bus.
