Barcelo Fuerteventura Castillo formerly Barcelo Castillo Beach Resort

We stayed at the hotel July 22. The Jet 2 website promised much and delivered little. the hotel is not deserving of 4* status and the price we paid was very poor value for money. we were assured by a Jet 2 rep prior to departure, that all repairs at the hotel were completed and that the block their passengers would be staying in was completed. Upon arrival there were extensive works being carried out the majority of which was exterior painting right outside our room. Other building works were going on in the next block adjacent to us. The rooms were adequate. The all inclusive was a joke. The breakfast and lunch were okay, but the evening buffet was completely awful. there was no hot food to be had, and the quality of the meat on offer was disgusting, truly inedible. we complained to the manager and we were offered to upgrade to Royal level at 500 euros each we declined. The Mar was like eating in a canteen. we chose to eat out at the lovely places around us which increased the cost of our 12 night stay considerably. it did make us wonder if Barcelo ever vet their hotels catering costs and actually see for themselves if the food is as it should be. we have stayed at other hotels in this group that are far better and a lot cheaper. Its a shame as the hotel itself is fine in terms of the pool and the marina. if we went back we would book the royal level direct, never with Jet 2 unless they start producing a review on what is actually happening and what is truly offered to guests. The jet 2 rep on site offered to change us to half board ermmm but led us to believe that this would be breakfast and evening meal ..no use whatsoever. look around as 4* should mean 4*

Fantastic stay in July 2022. Room was spacious with a large balcony. We were at the back of the hotel near the main road but this wasn’t an issue as the doors were well sound proofed. The hotel facilities were really good and the food was fabulous. There’s a cracking little quiet coffee shop on the ground floor. We didn’t realise that till day 5. The hotel is enormous and spotless. We will definitely be back, the staff in the hotel couldn’t do enough for you. Don’t hesitate in booking.

Returned again to this hotel for the 7th time. Absolutely love it. Unfortunately the rooms we normally get were being refurbished so we were allocated a superior bungalow. Although it was lovely I do however prefer the separate living and sleeping areas. Hoping these will become available soon as will be returning again next year. My biggest disappointment of the refurbishment was the closure of the shop. This to me and others I spoke to was a big miss. Especially if self catering. Overall had a fab time as always.

We were looking forward to this return visit. The single and double storey village layout of the resort is very calming and pleasant both to stay in and to stroll through on the way to the resort facilities. Check in was efficient and our room / apartment being spacious and clean with a small kitchenette equipped with a fridge, 2 cooking rigs, microwave, toaster and kettle (no complimentary tea and coffee though). The bathroom was spacious (walk in shower), benefiting from a heated mirror. The main dining facility is very large, but, a little tight around the main buffett / serving area particularly at busy times. Food was plentiful, but somewhat indifferent in variety or taste. As much of the food has to be brought into the island it is only natural that some shortages will occur at various times. . The animation team work hard in providing and facilitating a range of daytime activities and evening entertainments for and to a wide range of age groups. We would like to rate this property higher, but, feel unable to do so - it was average.

Not too far from the airport. Excellent location within the resort. Lovely spacious bungalow on a very large complex, ideal as we were near reception in Playa 2. Whole complex is incredibly clean. Large dining room which was incredibly noisy, luckily weather was good enough for us to have breakfast outside on the terrace. Wasn't impressed with the pool areas, sunbeds too close together so must be like playing a game of sardines ! We chose to walk to the beach and pay for 2 beds and a sunshade on a very clean imported sand beach. Cheap taxi ride up to very nice restaurants on main street. Staff need to be more smiley and approachable.....2 exceptions were Mari Helene on reception and Jose Marie in the beach snack bar !

Not too bad but not 4 star. Had trouble with the shower and the taps. Lounge furniture very basic and not comfy. No music in bedroom, Kitchen very basic. Cleaners very good and the complex was very smart and neat. Reception good. Mini market good, We really like Caleta de Fuste. Have been many times and will go again.

Hotel was very nice and clean, staff friendly, all facilities good however we booked a self catering apartment and this element of the hotel was poor. Only 2 hobs to cook on, no oven, very little work preparation space and very few kitchen utensils. Had to beg for a cutting knife and chopping board! Room was too small for a family of 4. No introduction pack either.

Resort itself was perfect but disappointed with the accommodation itself as it was very tired and dated although very clean, definitely in need of some refurbishment. Very busy at times and the music around the pool was very loud. Food was good but be prepared for a free for all in the restaurant!

I booked this hotel with Jet2Holidays who were great, helpful advise given as a last minute getaway. I had never been to Fuerteventura and was taking the family somewhere new and a little apprehensive having read some tripadvisor comments that suggested the place was just ok. Well we found the hotel, the facilities and the location great, very central and a short walk for all amenities, entertainment and shops. We went half board for 10 days and found the breakfast and evening meals had a good selection to accommodate all tastes. The staff, who speak English (if you don’t speak Spanish) were helpful, courteous and always available to help, keen to go that extra mile to make our holiday special. One note and it didn’t bother us in the least, was the distraction of the aircraft coming into and leaving the airport. You don’t notice them after a short while. All in a smashing break.

My husband and I are just back from a weeks holiday in Barcelo Castillo Beach Resort. We arrived late at night and checked in at reception which was straight forward enough. However we found out the next da that the receptionist had failed to give us bands for our half board so we had to go all the way back to reception in the morning so we could have breakfast. The complex is large and if was not for our friends who had checked in during the day we would not have found our room easy in the dark. Buggy’s are provided for day guests so why not people who arrive late at night? The room is a good size but definitely needs to be updated. The bed however was very comfortable probably the best I have ever slept in on holiday. The food is average but you find something to eat at breakfast/dinner However the restaurant needs some kind of structure by having more supervision during mealtimes Sometimes there was no cups, glasses, hot water, tbags,spoons, it was just your luck on the day. Staff could be more happier when working in the dining room either serving you food/wine. Cannot comment on the entertainment. If these simple things are changed then this complex would definitely get a higher score. It’s in a prime location with the beach right across the hotel Would be great.

Very disappointed when we got to the bungalow. Not as in photograph. All furniture looked over worn, bad smell coming from bathroom, sofa in lounge was not for someone to sleep on, very uncomfortable. Otherwise the resort is great, pools clean, good choice of food, friendly staff, beautiful location

The location of the resort is good, however everything is very spread out. The restaurant is like a cattle market no matter what time you go and is a very stressful experience so much so we ate out 3 nights as the food was not good and always half cold. The hotel is predominantly French and German, so all the entertainment and entertainers are French, and they do not interact with the British Children at all, so our 12 year old spent the week on his own which was a shame. We never did find the indoor pool and the description of the resort as a whole has a little poetic licence to say the least. Unfortunately this holiday was not worth the money we paid. My advise do your research before you book here as the photos online do not reflect the whole experience of staying here. Unfortunately we would not return to this resort, and as we holiday 3 times a year we had high hopes for this holiday. Oh and the staff are VERY rude
