Playa Del Ingles Holidays

Show on Map

Gran Canaria’s most famous resort gives you sun, sea and style with its broad beach, trendy clubs and top shopping scene.

Sand as far as the eye can see

Playa del Ingles sits on an 8-kilometre swathe of sand that rolls on into Maspalomas to the south-west and San Agustin to the north-east. Behind the beach, the 2-kilometre promenade is packed with cafés, bars and shops.

Shop till you drop

There are no fewer than 12 shopping centres in the resort. And they’re all duty-free, so you can pick up everything from electronics to designer clothes for less than you’d pay at home.

Cutting-edge clubs

The commercial centres transform after dark, when the designer boutiques shut up shop and the stylish bars and nightclubs open their doors. You’ll find everything from big-name clubs like Cream and Pacha to live music and cabaret.

Insider Tip

For the best designer brands, pop along the coast to Maspalomas.

Best beaches

Playa del Ingles may be popular, but there’s so much sand to spare that the beaches don’t feel crowded. For sun loungers and beach bars, set up camp on the stretch near the Annexo II shopping centre, or make your way along the coast to Maspalomas for a more chilled-out beach scene.

Top sights

Check out the Saharan-style sand dunes behind Maspalomas Beach. They cover a whopping 400 hectares and you can cross them by Jeep, horseback or camel train. The 19th-century lighthouse on the seafront is worth a look, too.

Out and about

The beach lays on a raft of watersports. Jet skis, pedalos, banana boat rides and paragliding are all up for grabs. Back on dry land, you’ll find mini golf, go-karting, Jeep safaris, horse riding, Segway tours and much more.

Eating and drinking

With the Atlantic Ocean on the doorstep, it’s no surprise that Playa del Ingles does a strong line in fresh fish. The best restaurants tend to be in the commercial centres, where you can feast on food from around the world – from Italian to Indian.

Playa del Ingles was built for retail therapy. Work your way around the 12 commercial centres, where you’ll find everything from high-street brands to designer boutiques. The Metro Centre is one of the best, especially if you’re after electronic goods.

The commercial centres are even more abuzz after dark than they are during the day. The Kasbah Centre is where you’ll find big-name clubs like Pacha and Cream. The Agua Roja, also known as ‘Irish Town’, is great for Guinness and good craic. The Yumbo is the beating heart of the gay scene.
