In among the stunning Canarian architecture, there’s the town’s centrepiece: the church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. With its double bell tower, it’s an incredible building. Once you’ve enjoyed a spot of retail therapy too, sit down to tasty tapas, Canarian culinary delights and local wine.
By day, let the trekking routes in the surrounding areas give you a good old workout. Wind down a little later – the resort’s Municipal Theatre showcases some excellent jazz concerts! Good news: you won’t be far from Puerto del Carmen, where you can expect atmospheric nights out and great seafront scenery.
Lanzarote
If you've enjoyed a glass or two of delicious local wine during your stay you can learn all about how it's made on a vineyard tour. Family-run El Grifo is the oldest winery on the island. Explore its fascinating history at the little museum, housed on-site. Finish off with a tipple or two looking out over the vines.
Lanzarote
This vineyard produces a monumental 300,000 litres of wine every year. And the La Geria label produces six different kinds of wine, ranging from dry, semi-sweet and sweet Malvasia. Take in the views while enjoying the latest vintage. It’s recommended that you call ahead to book a tour.
Lanzarote
A treat for wine lovers, this is the ideal place to discover your next favourite tipple while enjoying a bite to eat and watching the sunset from the large wooden balcony running along the upper floor. This particular winery or 'bodegas' dates all the way back to the middle of the 18th century.
