Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik Hotel

Wow! 4* hotel verging on 5* in so many aspects. Very impressive accommodation in a great location within easy reach of old walled city of Dubrovnik. Stunning location offering bathing in sea, outdoor pool and indoor pool. Food was good and we generally ate buffet meals but all tastes catered for with very few faults (slight delays on ordering drinks on one night). Highly recommend this hotel especially at this time of year mid to late June. No queues for sunbeds at any time of day on any given day, fresh towels on request and 30 degrees most days.

We've loved our stay at Valamar Lacroma and think it definitely deserves 4 star status. The staff were welcoming, friendly and professional. Gordana and Angelina, the cleaners for our room, left our room spotlessly clean and fresh every morning, Our waiter Mateo was friendly and professional, he couldn't do enough for us. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming, a special thank you to Mirko for making our check in so easy and quick. We were really pleased with our room which had a beautiful sea and pool view. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great, a little intermittent in the mornings but very powerful. We stayed on a half board basis, the breakfasts and evening meal both had lots of variety. We also ate in the lobby bar a couple of times, the food was fine and not bad value. We did find the drinks a little expensive and even the water was quite costly. We double checked and you can drink the Croatian tap water providing there has been no heavy rain downfall, We bought water in to drink but were quite happy to boil the tap water in the room for tea/coffee. The local shops were expensive and we found the supermarket TOMMY the cheapest, there is a local TOMMY a brisk 20 min walk away. We took Croatian currency, and there were signs in Dubrovnik saying no euros allowed, although some shops seemed to accept them. I would suggest taking the Croatian currency. The hotel is modern and situated around a 25 min bus ride out of Dubrovnik, in a really lovely area, close to a couple of beaches and lovely coastal walks. The Ragusa spa facilities are fantastic, the outdoor pool is clean and fresh but a little cold. The indoor pool is much warmer. You can get the Babun Kuk No 6 bus into Dubrovnik for around £3 per person return, best to buy your tickets in advance from the hotel shop. The buses run around every 15 mins, they can get busy, but the journey is worth the visit to beautiful Dubrovnik. The bus drops you off at one of the city gates and there is an ice cream shop on the right, the ice cream was absolutely delicious and seemed to have different flavours daily, it was quite cheap too. It also sells takeaway pizza slices which seemed really popular and were reasonable too. We would definitely recommend walking the city walls and the cable car journey. It was our first visit to Croatia but we'll definitely return. The country is beautiful and the area we stayed in was stunning, with amazing sea views of crystal blue waters and islands.

Modern clean, hotel with excellent facilities and very efficient, friendly staff.We stayed bed & breakfast but paid for a very nice buffet on a couple of nights.Great location for getting to Dubrovnik Old Town by regulat local bus service.

Enjoyed our week in a generally excellent hotel with pleasant and helpful staff. The part we did not enjoy was the many chaotic situations at buffet meal times. We later found out this was due to bus tour parties arriving and departing. Some food items at times were tepid to cold. One evening meal there were no potatoes left but to be fair chips did arrive after I had finished my meal. If we return it would be on a B&B basis. On room comparison we found the additional cost for balcony with sea view pretty expensive.

Don't be deceived by the brochure pictures, the hotel looks like it was built in the 60's with horrible bars above and around the window areas making it look like a prison. We asked to move rooms on the 1st night as we were in a noisy area near the lift, reception and the bar area. The receptionist we spoke to (Igor) was sullen, rude and ignorant. We found this with most of the staff. They gave you the impression they couldn't care less. My husband is a vegetarian and struggled to find anything he could eat at the buffet dinner. This is 200HRK (£25) per head and is certainly not worth it. I had steak which was lukewarm and raw in the middle, potatoes which were cold and salad which didn't taste very nice. The room wasn't cleaned properly. Dirty glasses were left for 2 days and there was a layer of dust on the shelves which looked like it had been there for a few weeks. Be aware if you want to travel into the city from the hotel by local bus that they jam you on like sardines! Take plenty of money as Dubrovnik is expensive and the hotel bar prices are too...£14 for 2 vodkas with mixer!!

Everything on offer at the Valamar Lacroma is of a very high standard. Excellent facilities throughout the hotel ensure that this is a hotel that you will always remember. The views of the mountains and the Adriatic as you walk out through the doors towards the pool area are just stunning and are ones you will never forget. We were impressed by the friendliness of every member of staff that came into contact with or we spoke to - they were always professional in everything. Our rooms was beautifully clean every day. The buffet breakfast(particularly) and dinner offered a fantastic choice of dishes with freshly cooked meat, fish and eggs. we have already recommended the hotel to our friends. I'm sure a return visit is on the cards!

A superb hotel, which might appear corporate to some holiday makers, and indeed it is. However, the staff were exceedingly helpful at all levels and the location at Babis Kuk was away from the crowded Old Town, but it was extremely easy to access by bus. The nearby Cava Beach, with its sophisticated beach club made a nice change from the hotel pool occasionally.

Great hotel, great location, super friendly staff and the restaurant was not only good value for money, but also superb quality and location, sat on the terrace watching sunset most nights. Couldn't recommend enough!
