Matagorda

Matagorda holidays

The quiet, understated character of this resort makes it a great hideout for total peace. It’s graced with one of the area’s Blue Flag beaches, so it’s got shimmering sands down to a fine art. You can take plenty of day trips to nearby towns, and get a taste for after-dark life.

Get stuck in

For starters, parasailing seems is a local favourite when it comes to water sports. Give it a go or simply watch in awe. Likewise, head under the sea on a snorkelling trip, or stay afloat with a boat ride. Meanwhile, the cycling routes twist and turn around some of Lanzarote’s most scenic spots.

Out and about

Over in Arrecife, trace the past back in the museum. It’s housed in an 18th-century fortress that was renovated by famous Canarian artist and architect, César Manrique. Later on, a glam night awaits in Puerto del Carmen. It’s close to Matagorda, and a real gem for pubs, bars and clubs.
