Vodnjan

Vodnjan holidays

For weird and wonderful in equal measure, there’s no place quite like Vodnjan. Marvel at baroque buildings one minute and trick-of-the-eye street art the next, and then head to the Church of Saint Blaise for an unexpected surprise… a display of remarkably preserved mummies! Creepy!

Olive you a lot

It's hard to believe this lantern-lit town started life as just a cluster of villas, especially now it's world-famous for its incredible olive oil! In fact, the locals love it so much, Vodnjan holds the Festival of Fresh Olive Oils every November.

A town with a buzz

Just when we thought Vodnjan had reached peak appeal, it goes and out-charms itself yet again! How? Well, the locals refer to themselves as Bumbari (or bumblebees to us)! Cute eh! It's something that they've done since Italians moved here many moons ago. They even host an annual Bumbar Fiesta.
