Brac Island (Pucisca)

Brac Island (Pucisca) holidays

In pint-sized Pucisca, everywhere you turn is pretty as a picture thanks to the town’s skill for stone masonry. Clusters of cream-coloured townhouses and chunky palms give the place a model village look, while sleek sailing boats and waterfront cafés show off a touch of riviera chic.

History set in stone

Pucisca has a rich history steeped in stonework, dating back to when the Renaissance glitterati were after handsome houses by the harbour. In fact, Pucisca is home to Croatia’s only Stonemason School, and it’s the heart and soul of the town. You can even pop in for a peep at local artists at work.

A taste of Dalmatia

There’s no nicer setting to linger over lunch than outside a time-worn taverna with blue bay views. Just make sure you try the local olive oil and figs these parts are famous for. When relaxing’s on your agenda, there are a couple of cosy pebble coves to pitch up at for the day. And active types – the forest-covered hills are all yours to explore.
