Resorts for all sorts

The east coast of Cyprus is best known for buzzy Ayia Napa. But there’s plenty here for families and couples too, from brilliant beaches to archaeological sites and unspoiled countryside. Foodies will be in heaven thanks to delicious kebabs and traditional mezes made up of a selection of light bites…

A bevy of beaches

The beaches along this stretch of the coast are gold-sand winners, many of them boasting Blue Flag status. The seas are warm, clear and calm, making them super-safe for swimming. Lots of the beaches are lined with restaurants, so you won’t have to travel far to fill rumbling tums.

Lively Limassol

Families, couples, solo travellers and groups – Limassol has something for everyone. Gorgeous gardens, spectacular shopping spots and fascinating art are all on the agenda, while the marina makes the perfect place for a sunshine stroll. Into your history? Check out the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates.

Beaches

Throughout Larnaca, you’ll stumble across popular spots with families and water sports fans, plus picture-perfect curves of sand offering plenty of peace and quiet. You’ll really have the pick of the bunch. Along beaches and bays, you’ll find sun-kissed patches that double up as beachfront party venues.

Sights

Modern-day Larnaca is built on top of the ancient city of Kition. You can see what remains of its temples and shrines at the archaeological site a block or so back from the main harbour.

Activities

When it comes to things to do in Cyprus, Larnaca’s seas are made for scuba diving, with many reefs, caves and shipwrecks to explore. A dive down to the old ferry is a must, with karting centres, shows, waterparks and museums all making the cut for fun too. There’s something to keep every age entertained.

Eating and drinking (beaches)

For a true taste of Cyprus, order meze. It’s a selection of light bites that can include hummus, stuffed vine leaves, meatballs, grilled halloumi cheese and lots more. Make sure you tuck into a kebab while you’re here too – it’ll beat anything you’ve had late-night back home.
3

Shopping (beaches)

There’s no shortage of souvenir shops in the coastal resorts, selling everything from postcards to handmade tablecloths and leather goods. Hillside villages top the ranks for great places to buy locally crafted silver jewellery and lace, while busy Ayia Napa offers a strong line of designer brands.

Nightlife

Ayia Napa is the island’s nightlife capital, but it isn’t all neon lights and buzzing bars here in this culture-packed resort. For something a little more low key, check out the harbour’s restaurants. Families won’t get bored here either; the live shows along the main strip cater for audiences of all ages.
