Text
Terracotta-topped and ready to dazzle, this traditional piece of Greece has “real deal” written all over it. Think rainbow-coloured houses, chequered-cloth tavernas and swoon-worthy seafront harbours, complete with wraparound greenery. This sensational spot may be part of the marvellous mainland, but a curling coastline of bay after bay gives it an idyllic island vibe. And that’s just the start – this is a region rich in forest-backed shores and dreamy lagoons, where adventures await too. Throw in a welcome as warm as the weather and you’ve got an old-school Mediterranean stay on your hands.

HD scenery

Forget camera filters, this region’s colour palette is off the chart. Parga Town’s buildings have an Italianate feel and come in luscious lemon-yellows and stunning sky-blues, while up in the old town, bougainvillea petals cascade like confetti in the wonderful warm breeze. And the beaches? Well, they’re proof that all that glistens is gold.

Days of discovery

When it comes to resorts, the pretty beach of sparkling Sivota beckons, along with its promenade cafés and bars. But Parga offers so much more than just chocolate-box towns. Nature fans should visit Acheron River’s waterside pathways, while culture vultures will enjoy the local festivals. Sailing’s big round here too.

Nights to delight

Parga harbour calls as soon as the sun falls. The scenery is as enchanting by night as it is by day, with twinkling lights and a buzz of activity. It’s lined with traditional tavernas, chic bistros and cool little cocktail bars. Trust us, there’s plenty of choice!

Beaches

Splashing the shores with glimmering gold, this is a region rich in beaches. From low-key Lichnos, with its tree-blanket backdrop, to Valtos with its dine-al-fresco restaurants, there’s a perfectly pebbled plot with your name on it here in Parga. Spectacular scenery comes as standard round these parts.

Sights

There are some seriously striking natural wonders to see around Parga. Panagia island can be reached by boat, and its whitewashed, terracotta-topped chapel is a sight to behold. Then back on the mainland there’s Ali Pasha Castle, kaleidoscopic villages and some little local treasures – you’re in for a treat.

Activities

Take a boat trip to Aphrodite’s Cave where the Greek goddess herself is said to have bathed or visit the incredible Acheron River and savour a stroll along the wonderful waterside path. Around in mid-August? Look out for the Kanaria Festival – it’s a cultural delight!

Eating and drinking (beaches)

Dining with a view is inevitable in the picturesque Parga region. There are almost 100 eateries in Parga Town alone, so you’re sure to meet your match! The harbour is the spot for family-run tavernas, so pull up a seat and watch the yachts ripple in and out of the port.

Nightlife

The harbour in Parga transforms when the sun goes down. It’s all lit up and ready to go, so choose from cool cocktail bars and traditional tavernas. But it’s not all about the bars – shoppers will be in their element along the store-studded streets of the paved town centre.
