Much of Lido di Jesolo’s iconic strip belongs to the hotels, which gives it a pristine, first-class sheen. For a free spot to bathe on, make a beeline for the beach near Piazza Brescia and sprawl out in the sun. There are some privately owned patches too, depending on where you stay.

The island of Murano is known for its glassmaking tradition, while back on the peninsula, you’ll find a beautiful 11th-century cathedral in the picturesque village of Caorle. To the west of Lido di Jesolo, pay homage to the town’s maritime heritage with a visit to its lighthouse and pretty marina.

It’ll come as no surprise that there’s plenty of pizza and pasta to be enjoyed here, but the seafront location means fish is popular too. Tuck into the Venetian speciality fritto misto – mouth-watering morsels of fresh fried fish. Spaghetti vongole made with clams, herbs and wine, is another must-try.

Shopping (beaches)

Running parallel to the beach is the supersized shopping centre – Via Bafile. This offers everything from chic boutiques selling the latest in Italian style to classic souvenir shops. For a more authentic experience, join the locals at the Friday market in the Old Town – you could even pick up the odd antique.

Nights out in Lido di Jesolo are fun with a twist of cheese. Take your pick between casual, laidback pubs and up-all-night clubs.
