A fantasy land

Known as the ‘Silent City’, this bronze-toned set of walls has a really mystical feel to it. In short, Mdina’s a hilltop fort with story book character and a smorgasbord of ages-old architecture. It’s hardly a surprise that this dazzling resort is a UNESCO-listed site, with its many Baroque and Byzantine touches.

Under the surface

Car-free thanks to its narrow streets, this maze of historic cobbles was picked as one of the original filming locations for the mighty franchise Game of Thrones. You’ll find a palace, bastion, chapels, cathedrals and temples all within walking distance, and a moat embellished with peaceful gardens. It’s even more spellbinding at night.
