Elche

Elche holidays

Elche is a real hit when it comes to natural beauty and open green spaces. Palm-lined streets lead you into its buzzy centre while the hidden-away side streets offer up welcoming boutique shops and family-run tapas bars. For a traditional Spanish feel, it doesn’t get much better than Elche.

The pretty palms

This sun-kissed part of the Costa Blanca is renowned for its flourishing palm trees. So much so, the Palmeral of Elche, a huge date palm grove, has earned UNESCO status. It’s home to more than 200,000 palm trees, making it the largest of its kind in Europe. You can stroll the rows upon rows of swaying palms or take a seat on a bench and enjoy the shade.

Day trips galore

Make the most of your time on Spain’s south-east coast and tick off some of the top towns and villages. The bustling city of Alicante is around 30 minutes away by car, where you’ll find a lively port lined with tapas restaurants and wine bars. If it’s nightlife you’re after, then head straight for Benidorm. This Brit hit is less than an hour away!
