Bedar

Bedar holidays

If hilltop hideaways are your idea of holiday heaven, then Bedar is hard to beat. And this place was first in line when they were dishing out classic Spanish good looks. Think whitewashed buildings with balconies, overflowing hanging baskets and higgledy-piggledy cobbles – and that’s before we even get to the wrap-around valley views at every turn.

Village life

A morning walk through Bedar’s go-slow streets in the sun is the perfect way to start the day. Swing by the bakery for just-baked bread, stop for a coffee, and drink in the panoramas from the terrace at Plaza San Gregorio. There’s an impressive statue here too, which honours the local mining tradition.

The real Spain

You’re high up in the mountains here, so all the nearby villages have the same authentic appeal. Restaurants are friendly, family-run places with traditional wood-fired ovens and changing menus that showcase top local produce. Best of all, you’re likely to have change from £20 for a hearty meal for two with wine.
