Competa

Competa holidays

This surprisingly large town is a sprawl of low-rise, whitewashed buildings spread across an idyllic hillside location. Its compact, pretty architecture and breathtaking views have led it to be named the ‘Pearl of the Axarquia’.

Fine wines

Competa is famed for the quality of its local wine, offering both dry and sweet varieties. In fact, the area is so celebrated for its vineyards the town lays on the Night of the Wine event every year on 15 August. Expect live dance, feasts of food and plenty of wine!

Take in the scenery

As soon as you arrive, you’ll realise that Competa is in a completely dreamy location. It’s just an hour away from Malaga, yet feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of big cities. Be sure to head to the Mirador Panoramico, along with the great views the platform itself is made out of mesmerising tile patterns by Gaudi.
