Positano’s a glamorous pick with an effortlessly photogenic way about it. You’ll be wowed by the glitzy streets and old-style buildings dotted around here. This coastal giant has a real holiday-town vibe, with creeping bougainvillea framing every street. Spiaggia Grande, the beach, has plenty of charm to entice you to the shore.
Cafés, boutiques, churches and dozens of naturally elegant hotels all grace this resort. Sophisticated bars and terrace restaurants will tempt your taste buds, while there are some inviting designer shops too. Why not even go on a boat trip around this classy, never-ending shoreline?
The Amalfi Coast is blessed with some spectacular landscapes, and Positano is no exception. Chill on Arienzo Beach with a backdrop of dramatic cliffs, lush forests and beautiful villas. Or, head beneath the cliffs to the dreamy Emerald Grotto, and be charmed by the other-worldly, green-tinged cavern.
Sorrento Area
Local seafood at its most delightful. All of it is locally sourced and cooked in their secret ‘crazy water’, then presented artfully on glass plates. You can try squid, lobster, shrimp, or if you don’t like seafood, they serve an excellent pasta. A seat on the ground floor is perfect for staying cool from the sun.
Sorrento Area
The main square, Piazza del Duomo has loads of character, and is a great spot to indulge in some local cuisine, al fresco. Try a plate of scialatielli, pasta with grana cheese and parsley, and follow with limoncello liqueur. For tasty seafood street food, track down Cuoppo D’Amalfi.
Sorrento Area
The very first bar open in the legendary Piazzetta and arguably the best. It’s long been seen as the centre of evening life on the island and is a favourite of both locals and tourists. They serve food during the day, though evening is the best time to visit when you can enjoy cocktails and great aperitifs.
