Wander around the main square and you’ll soon get your bearings. There’s one particular point that’s a total knockout – the church, complete with a dazzling marble altar. But keep things simple and you’ll see that your surroundings offer unbeatable views of the stunning Bay of Naples.
This pretty part of Sorrento shows off a clutch of interesting old churches. There’s plenty to taste, too – think on-the-hop in family-run trattorias and even fine, Michelin-starred dining. Settle in for a taste of the good life with long, flavour-packed feasts and inspired views you’ll never forget.
Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, Sorrento Area
A bar with a unique story behind it involving a famous smoking cat! Be sure to stop in and ask Orlando, the owner, about his furry friend. They have a lovely selection of wines, and the gelato is sweet and cool, but it’s the cocktails you should come for which are served in generous portions.
Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, Sorrento Area
Take a walk down to the eastern end of the beach of Marina del Cantone to see this beautifully renovated 15th century church. Inside there is a baroque altar in polychrome marble, with a statue of St Anthony to the left. In 1800 Don Luca Maggio had the floor made with his coat of arms with reliefs and marine designs.
Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, Sorrento Area
This church, in the village square, is well worth a visit to view its amazing altar, crafted in the 1600s. It’s an intricate work of polychrome marble, inlaid with mother of pearl. It was actually made for another church, but has been in Saint Agata’s since the 19th century. The interior is a cool spot on a hot day.
