Mijas Holidays

Show on Map

Brimming with character, the traditional mountainside village of Mijas is the go-to destination for those who appreciate all things authentic.

Mountainside magnificence

Set back from the coastline on the side of a mountain, the town of Mijas has become a real hotspot for tourists over the past two decades. In spite of the high volume of visitors who descend upon Mijas each year, the town has managed to retain its Spanish charm, boasting narrow cobbled streets and a traditional atmosphere. From authentic tapas bars and locally-owned cafés to quaint craft shops selling unique, handcrafted pottery, Mijas is the ideal location for those looking to get a taste of the real Spain.

Viva la fiesta!

If you just so happen to be in Mijas in September, attending the annual Mijas Fair is highly recommended. Held in honour of the town’s patron saint, festivities take place over the course of a week, with the main square becoming a hive of activity. Stalls offering an array of traditional food and drink can be found at every turn, while local women turn out in their finest flamenco dresses to dance the Sevilliana – a real spectacle!

A spot of sport

It’s little wonder that Mijas has a reputation for being a golf enthusiast’s paradise, with eight immaculately kept golf courses in the immediate vicinity. For something a little more fast-paced, Mijas’ former racecourse, the Mijas Hipódromo, is just 13 kilometres away from the town itself, where you can try your hand at a spot of go-karting. As for water-based activities, the nearby La Cala beach offers optimum swimming conditions and your fair share of water sports.
