Cap Salou Holidays

Show on Map

Sun, sand, water parks and rollercoasters – Cap Salou has everything you need for the perfect summer getaway.

Watersports galore

Cap Salou’s beaches are buzzing with activity, from tranquil sailing to high-adrenaline water skiing. There are two water parks nearby too – the Aqualeon water park, which combines splashdowns with safaris, and Aquopolis, where you can swim with dolphins.

Traditional Spain on your doorstep

Cap Salou has everything you need for the perfect summer getaway, but if you’re willing to travel then Reus, Tarragona, Montserrat and Barcelona are all within a 2-hour drive. The surrounding area has plenty of history too, with ancient Roman remains and huge monasteries tucked into the Spanish mountains.

Insider Tip

Remember that the Aqualeon water park is only open in the summer between late June and early September. If you want to go, check the dates before you book.

Best beaches

Costa Dorada translates to ‘golden coast’, and the honey-hued sands of Cap Salou certainly live up to the name. Cala Font is a small, sandy beach in front of the Cala Font hotel, with rock formations that reach out into the warm waters. Families love the cove of Cala Crancs, with its 80m-long beach and children’s play area in the shade of the trees. Finally there’s Largo, a 600m-long and 35m-wide beach surrounded by pine trees. It has sunbeds, umbrellas and yachts for hire.

Top sights

The best sights are within day-trip range. A 10-minute drive to Tarragona will bring you to several ancient Roman remains, including an aqueduct, a beautiful seafront amphitheatre and a 2,000-year-old circus. Both Catalonian capital of Barcelona and Montserrat are 90 minutes away – at the latter you’ll find a stunning Benedictine monastery tucked away into the mountains.

Out and about

Cap Salou is packed with activities, including jeep and quad safaris, sailing, golf, spa centres and a host of exciting watersports. Thrill-seekers will love the nearby PortAventura theme park, which features plenty of white-knuckle rollercoasters. If you want to get up close and personal with nature then head to the Aquopolis or Aqualeon water parks, where you can meet dolphins or watch Bengal tigers between splashdowns.

Eating and drinking

Whether you’re looking for local dishes or something a little closer to home, there are plenty of options in Cap Salou. A whole host of Irish bars offer a good craic, with The Guinness Tavern in Salou being a particular highlight. For traditional Mediterranean cuisine and deliciously refreshing sangria head to Arcs Restaurant and L’Home Dels Nassos.

While Cap Salou provides the necessities, you’ll need to travel a little for some more rewarding retail therapy. For high-end shopping head to La Roca Village or La Rambla in Barcelona. The La Pineda promenade and Cambrils Port are also lined with shops and bazaars where you can buy souvenirs or day-to-day necessities.

You’re unlikely to get bored once the sun goes down at Cap Salou. Nearby towns are absolutely packed with pubs, clubs and dance floors to party the hours away. Head to Tablao Flamenco El Embrujo for some traditional Spanish dancing, or try out Chaplins Salou – a family-friendly bar with something for everyone.
