Head to the village of Kayaköy to see the fascinating remnants of a once bustling place. Over 350 deserted houses, crumbling churches and weatherworn street signs sit here derelict on the mountain. The town was abandoned after the Greco-Turkish War in the early 20th century, and today it’s an open-air museum. The outskirts are very much full of life, so you’ll find places to shop and snack.
If you’re not pulling up your boot straps or saddling up for a trek through the countryside, hop in the car and you can be by the coast in ten minutes. Gemiler Beach is a good place to start, thanks to its gorgeous blue bay and plunging valley views. Pack a picnic, grab a lounger and hop on a boat from the wooden jetty over to Gemiler Island.

History lovers shouldn’t miss a visit to the ancient Phrygian city of Hierapolis, which is located near to Pumakkale. The city was built on the site of ancient hot springs, and the impressive ruins today boast a necropolis and sarcophagi. The archaeological museum here is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This renowned trip takes you to secluded bays and pristine beaches just off the coast of Dalaman. You’ll get to admire the 12 islands that float here in the mesmerising Mediterranean Sea, including Red Island, Göcek Island and Rabbit Island where lots of local rabbits roam free. Some trips include lunch and water sports too!

If more than four kilometres of golden sand, crystal clear water and stunning views wasn’t tempting enough, Iztuzu Beach has another special feature that brings the visitors in. Wooden stakes dotted around the beach mark the spots where loggerhead turtles are nesting, so keep your eyes peeled for this beautiful creature.
