Aqueduct

Aqueduct

The aqueduct looks Roman but was built later, in the 16th century, when the village spring dried up. The aqueduct carried water from a source in the hills 550 metres away. It has two tiers of arches made with pumice stone from volcanic caves and the money to pay for it came from the tax on wine.
