A crescent of sand

Mellieha Bay’s claim to fame is its wide, flat beach – it’s one of the only sandy stretches on Malta, and certainly the longest. It spools along the coast for nearly a kilometre, lined by beach bars and little souvenir shops. Above it all there’s the hilltop town, with fabulous views across the water.

The charming old town

A 20-minute walk from the beach brings you to a tangled web of narrow streets that make up the resort. Enjoy lazy lunches in its quaint restaurants and cafés, browse the gift shops, or explore the incredible 18th century Baroque church that towers over the bay.

A trip back in time

Spend days away from the beach exploring Malta’s intriguing history – there are crusades-era fortresses and palatial buildings in the capital, Valletta, 40 minutes away by car. Or head to the mysterious, UNESCO-protected Ta' Ħaġrat temples. At the grand age of 5,600 years, they’re one of the oldest man-made structures in the world!
