A historical capital

Starting in the centre of Mahón, you’ll find the Museo de Menorca, which allows you to learn some more about the island’s history. Menorca’s past is a colourful one, from Carthaginian and Roman rule to British occupancy in the 18th century, and a starring role in the Spanish Civil War.

So much to see

Also worth a visit is the Fortaleza de la Mola, a military fort located at the entrance to the port of Mahón. It dates back to 1849 and was created as a defence tactic for the whole island. However, the fortress itself was never attacked – not even once!
