Mamma Mia!
This dinky island was catapulted into stardom when it was hand-picked as the setting for Mamma Mia!. And it’s easy to see why it was chosen – the filming locations truly showcase Skopelos’ beauty. Make a beeline for the tranquil waters of Kastani Beach, before ticking off the clifftop Church of Agios Ioannis Kastri.
A breath of fresh air
Skopelos is famed for its rugged good looks. Dense pine forest blankets more than half the island, making it the greenest in all of Greece. You’ll also find vineyards, orchards and olive groves, creating a lush wonderland to explore. Walking routes wind through the hillsides, passing historic monasteries along the way – Mount Palouki is a great place to try.
Beautiful beaches
The island’s south coast is where you’ll find Skopelos’ best beaches. For bags of atmosphere and dreamy views, Kastani Beach is the place to go. Pine-framed Panormos Beach is just as stunning, with lots of loungers and a few tavernas for lunch on the shore. We’re also big fans of Stafylos Beach, only 5km from Skopelos Town.
