Tucked away on Sicily’s north-western coastline is the dinky village of Scopello. With just a handful of traditional restaurants, a historic baglio and a few shops, this is the place for a slow-paced holiday. There’s also a pebbly plot down by the water for relaxing on and crystal-clear waters for swimming in.

Screen-worthy spots

With its cool cove and pretty little lanes, it’s not surprising that this picturesque village has provided the backdrop for a whole host of films and TV shows like Ocean’s Twelve and an episode of Inspector Montalbano. Why not visit the nearby Zingaro Nature Reserve to see more of Sicily’s beauty?

Beautiful buildings

Down by the bay sits the dusky pink Tonnara, a tuna fishery dating back to the 13th century. Once an integral part of village life, it’s now been turned into an apartment-style hotel and café. There’s even a museum where you can learn about the history of this historic building.
