About Roda de Bara

Text
If you fancy mixing coastlines with culture, the relaxing shores of Roda de Bara should do the trick. Sink into smooth, Blue Flag sands one minute, and uncover Roman ruins the next. Looks-wise, you can expect a typical Spanish fishing village, with whitewashed houses, pretty plazas and plenty of al fresco socialising.

Life’s a beach

There’s a sleepy pace around here that’s best enjoyed at the beach. Choose from cosy coves to busier bits where you can get chatting to the locals. Then, snooze, swim or simply soak up the scene as you top up your tan. And keep your eye open for little stripped-back beach shacks – or chiringuitos – selling tapas-style snacks and fish, fresh from the sea. They’ll even serve you cocktails well past sunset too if you’re lucky.

Big city life

If you’re looking to squeeze in some sights between sunbathing, the port city of Tarragona ticks the boxes with its roll-call of Roman ruins. The amphitheatre, circus and necropolis are all worth exploring, but make sure you take some snaps of the Med from the Balcony of the Mediterranean. Throw in a huge Gothic cathedral and handsome squares brimming with cafés, and you’ve got a great day out.
