The Victoria

Lovely outdoor pool although cold , needs heating in the April months. Indoor pool too small. Gym was small and needed a refurb. Good choice food and nice bar area. Could do with a pool bar. Had a balcony but again very small.

We have stayed in the Victoria before and was so delighted we booked again for a special birthday treat. However, when we checked in our expectations were exceeded when we were given a suite in the Palazzo Capua next door.

We have stayed in the Victoria on a number if occasions and it never fails to delight. Lovely hotel, great sized bedrooms with mini fridge, spotlessly clean, great selection of food for breakfast and dinner. Its main selling point however is the most amazing staff you could ever find. From reception, to bar staff, to dining room staff, to chambermaids, absolutely everyone is so helpful and friendly. Nothing is ever any trouble. They are amazing. The only slight drawback is the steep, uphill walk from the seafront, but if you can cope with that I couldn't fault it in any way.

Upgraded to balcony room on arrival. All staff very courteous and helpful. We were on b & b basis and sometimes ate in the hotel bar ( bar meals). When we wanted to eat out but not go very far. The recommendations given were excellent. Roof top pool was gorgeous and attached bar service briiant. Overall the hotel met all expectations. And we would go there again.

Many, many good points especially the staff on the desk, however 2 points of caution. Be careful on what you purchase from the pool bar as one of our group had a glass of coke and was charged 5 euros, just as well the four of us didn't have one. And do not accept room 815. It has fab views of the city is recently decorated BUT because the pool area is above, the staff are dragging the sun beds around at 4.50am - sleep time. Complained after the first episode and they promised that the staff would not start until 6.00 am but it never happened, 4.50 again. We checked out on the Friday leaving friends who stayed one extra day. Whilst they were checking out on the Saturday morning the new occupants were at the desk complaining about the noise. Give room 815 and the adjacent ones well alone. Breakfast was spot on.

Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Pool area on 9th floor is amazing. Good choice of food and drinks, including some great cocktails available. Breakfast was good with a good selection of cereals, cooked and continental. there is also a chef available to cook to order. Buffet dinner had a reasonable selection. Both are self serve. Room was in need of a little touch up but had a nice balcony. Bathroom certainly needs a referb but was sufficient with a good shower/bath.
