Barbati hugs a half-moon bay, with a shingle shore sloping down into crystal-clear waters. It’s thought to be one of the best beaches on the island, so grab a sunbed and settle in for some sunshine. In the distance, you can spy Corfu Old Town and the mountains of Albania. Like water sports? There are plenty on offer, along with boat tours to nearby beaches.

Want to see more of the island? It’s amazing capital, Corfu Town, is just half an hour’s drive down the coast. Amble around the elegant Old Town to spot Venetian remains, neoclassical buildings and twisting lanes.
