The simple life

Thanks to a relaxed, rustic harbour and a bunch of silky beaches taking centre stage, this is the kind of place to do not much at all. Spend your days taking sandy strolls, picking up seashells and going for a swim between long, fish feasts. You can also check out a few quaint chapels or take a boat trip to Turtle Island.

Taverna time

One thing Neos Maramaras isn’t short of is tavernas. Meze, bread, wine and views – what more do you need? Traditional psarotaverna – or fish tavernas – are a favourite here, so be sure to get your fill of fresh seafood while you’re by the water. And olives, honey and wine are more local heroes you can expect to find on your menu. As night falls, these twinkling tavernas become the best place to enjoy a sundowner or two.

Step things up a gear

The Sithonia Mountains make an incredible outdoor playground for active types. Hiking, biking and bird watching are all popular pastimes around here. The remote village of Parthenonas is well worth a trip uphill for its sweeping panoramas and little museum. Likewise, the rolling vineyards in Porto Carras make for a lovely afternoon out.
