Take your seat for spectacular sunsets. Agios Ioannis’ placement on the south-west coast means you can look forward to the apricot sun sinking into the sea every evening. These swoon-worthy scenes are accompanied by some incredible authentic tavernas and a gold-shimmered beach. In the distance, the ancient ruins of Delos await.

At around 250m, Agios Ioannis Beach may be small, but it has a supreme setting. Its fine, honey-hued sands lead to translucent turquoise waters. The waves are calm, the atmosphere’s quiet, so bring your beach towel and settle in for a day of lazing and sunbathing.
You can see the temple-strewn silhouette of Delos as you gaze east from Agios Ioannis. It’s an entire, uninhabited island filled with ancient Greek structures. It’s certainly worthy of its UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Look out for the weatherworn statues at the Terrace of the Lions.
It’s just a 5km drive from Agios Ioannis to the island’s capital, Mykonos Town. This vibrant centrepiece is a focal point for vibrant bars and restaurants. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out Little Venice – it’s a beautiful part of town where bright white buildings face the open waves.
