Take a trip back in time
Named after Palinurus, the helmsman of Aeneas from Virgil's Aeneid, this dinky town is steeped in ancient history and local myth. There’s a small museum and a cluster of small ruins up on the hill. Venture further afield and you’ll find the archaeological site of Velia.
Natural beauty
When you’re not strolling along the shore or lazing on the beach, head to the Blue Grotto Palinuro, a symbol of natural beauty. It’s one of the many marine caves that dot the coastline, boasting glistening cobalt-blue waters and carved-out cave walls.
