Grupotel Mar de Menorca

We have just returned from Mar De Menorca, we are a family of 6 and stayed all inclusive for 7 nights. Airport transfer was approx 15 minutes which is great, Reception staff friendly and are room was ready 30 minutes after arriving mid morning which was a bonus! We had a two bedroom apartment which comprised of 2 twin bedrooms and 2 sofa/day beds in the lounge area, one bathroom which to be honest was a downside, the bathroom had been newly refurbished with a huge waterfall shower plus a hand held held very useful with children but the door didnt fit properly so lacked privacy. Room was clean air con was very good kitchen was tiny but we didnt use it so it didnt matter, full size fridge/kettle/microwave, lovely big balcony with table & chairs. The pool was lovely not too deepim 5,4 and it came just over my shoulders. Sun loungers were trcky to find late afternoon but plent yin the morning they dont have enough parasols so they are a premium if you need shade! The children can use inflatables in the pool which is great, bring them from home as there is a gift shop but they are not cheap! and of course every childs wants one. Entertainment well its ok not the greatest but they tried. Food - main restaurant is downstairs clean spacious but get busy breakfast was pastries pancakes full english etc gets very busy 9.00 onwards, lunch very quiet as most people use the snack bar, much of the same thing for lunch breads/salads meats pasta etc Dinner was varied and nice lots of meats chef always show cooking nice deserts. Snack bar was very good cook to order which is unsual as well as ice cream pots, sandwiches and cakes. Bar has a good choice beer wines and Cava, local spirts and all cocktails included Yay!! We went to the local beach cove - very disappointing the small was awful i think they were pumping sewage through there, sand was spongy very odd. The only other thing to mention is the wasps they are persistant and relentless and everywhere the minute you get a drink round the pool you are bombarded by them, to the point some of the children were jumping in the pool to get away from them. In summary Nice hotel, friendly staff, good food & drinks but isolated you need a taxi or bus to see or do anything.
