Seeing is Believing on a Holiday in Venice
We have all seen the films romanticising the charm of Venice but it really is a place you don’t fully appreciate until you have visited it yourself. Holidays to Venice allow you to marvel at the architectural brilliance, pulling from so many inspirations over the years.
There is Renaissance elegance, haunting Gothic buildings and Venetian expertise to be spied as you saunter across the bridges. However, nothing symbolises Venice better than the gondola’s which casually weave under the bridges and along the canals. They offer you a completely different view of the city.
St. Mark’s Basilica and Piazza San Marco are two of the most iconic landmarks in Venice and will attract a veritable throng of interested visitors.
Afternoon Coffee and Renaissance Art
In true Italian style, enjoying an espresso over a chat is just about the best way to spend an afternoon. Caffe Florian, arguably the oldest coffee house in the world situated in the Procuratie Nuove of Piazza San Marco is worth a visit if only to put your feet up (not literally) and admire the Renaissance themed interior.
Many of the cute cafes that can be found in the city’s labyrinth offer a romantic place to relax – in fact you’ll be hard pressed to find anywhere in Venice that isn’t romantic.
Incredibly there are over thirty museums in Venice, although some have labelled the city a living museum!
Experience a Real Life Film Set on Holiday in Venice
The romance of the city has often been captured on film because of its many picturesque locations but that is no substitute for being there. However, any film buffs heading to the Floating City might remember parts of it from famous films like Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider, The Italian Job and from a number of James Bond films like Casino Royale and From Russia With Love.
