Ionian Star

It was a hotel exactly as it was described, clean, friendly, no frills, basic breakfast AND less than a minute’s walk to a beach and a clear and calm sea, which in our books is a major plus. Sparkling swimming pool, which we didn’t use. Two extremely friendly ladies who kept the hotel immaculate. Although the hotel is surrounded by tavernas and bars it is quiet and peaceful.

Spent 1 week here in May and the weather was not great although we did get to the pool in the afternoon. The pool is very nice with plenty of beds. the rooms are of a reasonable size and very clean with modern bathrooms, There are plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walking time. The hotel is very central and was quiet at the time of year we were there.

The Ionian Star is by far one of the best places to stay in Alykes . Everyone is so friendly and hardworking to make your stay enjoyable. Improvements are always being made and George is definitely on top of things to keep up to date. The position of the hotel is fantastic with just a short walk to a beautiful safe beach. However if you aren't keen on going to the beach, the pool area is a real pleasure with comfortable sunbeds a bar serving freshly cooked food and cooling drinks. If I had to say anything negative it would be that the breakfast serving area is a bit cramped and could do with being extended and a softer mattress would be preferred by me. If you want a relaxing, chilled out holiday this is the place for you but it is within easy reach of good places to eat and drink.

Great hotel, Everywhere was spotless, breakfast fine and the staff couldn't do enough. A perfect location right next to the beach and in the resort centre, Pool nice with comfy beds. Rooms great and air con available, Powerful showers. Couldn't fault it and would def return.

We arrived to a drink on the house whilst our bags were taken up to our room, and later shown up to it. The room was modern and spotlessly clean, bacloncy had a lovely view of the mountains, there was a bit of noise at night as we were road facing however we stayed up late most nights anyway and by the time we were in bed, all was quiet. The breakfast was basic but very nice, the Greek yoghurt and fruit was lovely! Location wise it is spot on, right on the beach next to our favourite place for sun beds, easy walking distance to all the bars, restaurants and shops. There is a shop run by the hotel next door, fairly priced and Anastasia who runs it is lovely! The pool is amazing, always room even if you go down very late and Joanna is always on hand to take a drink order! George, Joanna and all the staff at Ionian Star are amazing, so welcoming and helpful! We stayed 5th-19th July and I have already booked to return next July for 18 nights!

first time in Alykes at the Ionian Star, what a lovely, hotel, serving excellent food, george the owner is always on hand and very friends as are the very friendly staff.. hotel is in an excellent location with a lovely pool and sea view rooms ... will definately return

A new pool has been added with jacuzzis at one end. New well-appointed rooms have been added. If you want to you can now also enjoy the expanded menu. The breakfast a stones throw from the beach remains as relaxing as ever.

This is an excellent little hotel in a prime location in the resort of Alykes. We had breakfast on the riverbank every morningwatching swallows swooping along the river for flies while in the distance tourists waited at the end of the jetty for a trip boat to arrive. George is a very attentive and patient host who speaks excellent English. All of the staff are friendly and courteous, the room was kept clean and well stocked with clean towels and the floor was mopped every other day! The buffet breakfast was plentiful consisting of boiled eggs, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, marmalade, honey, a variety of breads, and tea, coffee and fruit juice. The hotel is a short walk from the beach and the Main Street where all of the shops bars and restaurants are. The room was very comfortable and well sound proofed. The shower was powerful enough although the space was a little small. This is a really good hotel for couples and families due to it's location and the friendly family atmosphere. We liked it so much we are coming back in July!

What a lovely hotel, spotlessly clean all the time, our room was adequate, the towels and bed linen were changed frequently. Perhaps a waste bin and maybe a kettle would have made it 100%. The shower cubicle is very small - just enough space and nothing more. The staff were all very friendly and extremely welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. i never heard one complaint from a guest and everybody spoke well of it The hotel is only a few strides from the lovely sandy beach therefore ideal for families with children.

This location is a little bit of Heaven on Earth. I cannot wait to return and feel like I have now been spoiled because going forward, a Beach Hotel is the only way to do it. Massive thanks to Georgie and Angela for their flawless hospitality as well as the hard work of every single member of staff. One word? Awesome. 👏😊
