Text
South of Los Gigantes, Playa de la Arena has a laid-back vibe, where swaying palm trees contrast beautifully against the beach’s black-sand shore. From the picturesque seafront adorned with whitewashed architecture, you can head upwards to towering Mount Teide.

Time to relax

Playa de la Arena is a low-key alternative to some of the lively party resorts of Tenerife. Chilled out bars and restaurants are what you’ll find here – just head to the promenade and you’ll see lots of places to eat.

Head to the beach

Without a doubt it’s Playa de la Arena’s Blue Flag beach that makes it so special. ‘Playa de la Arena’ translates directly as ‘sand beach’ but it’s not the typical golden grains you might expect. It’s blanketed with black sand and is known for being one of the cleanest beaches around.
