About Akrotiri (Santorini)
Image
Text
Settle on the southwest part of Santorini for a go-slow Greek getaway. Akrotiri’s spread around a rural peninsula, peppered with olive groves, vineyards, pretty, pebbly coves and volcanic red-sand beaches. You’ll also find lots of local tavernas serving up home-style cooking – think moussaka, Greek salads and fresh fish.

Brilliant beach days

Tour around Akrotiri’s amazing beaches, starting with Caldera Beach. It’s a quiet stretch of dark sand offering lovely views toward the Caldera. On the other side of the peninsula, tick off a trio of amazing beaches. Aspri Beach is a pretty cove, Mesa Pigadia Beach is carpeted in black sands, and Kokkini is a spectacular stretch backed by red-hued cliffs.

Superb sunsets and sightseeing

Right on the far tip of the peninsula is Akrotiri Lighthouse, a bright-white 19th-century number that contrasts beautifully with the rusty-coloured rocks it’s perched on. Come here for mesmerising sunset views to rival those of Oia. Don’t miss the Minoan treasures at ancient Akrotiri either, with well-preserved relics from the Bronze Age to discover.
