Find out moreGouvia’s postcode’s a pleaser alright. If you’re seeking a super-central base that’s close to the capital and within day-tripping distance of Corfu’s most sought-after sights, then call off the search. Before venturing further, top of the local to-see list should be the fancy yachting marina – it’s the island’s biggest!

Less than 10km away is Corfu Town, where bougainvillea-draped shopfronts and pastel-painted buildings set the scene for an enchanting day of exploring. Stop off at museums, immerse yourself in art and pay a visit the iconic Old Venetian Fortress. Don’t miss a wander round the World Heritage-stamped Old Town too!
If yachts float your boat, then come down and admire the glitzy line-up in Gouvia’s marina. Prepare to be mesmerised by the million-pound marvels, docked here by their wealthy owners. Plus it’s easy to make a day of it thanks to the shops, restaurants, bars and sights that surround.
Gouvia, Corfu
From traditional tableclothed tavernas to swanky waterfront bistros, Gouvia’s restaurant line-up is ticking all the boxes. Pizzerias mingle in amongst grab-and-go grill spots and cool cafés, while a sprinkling of cocktail bars have the after-dark drinks covered.
Corfu
The Byzantine Angelokastro Castle, or Castle of Angels, stands on the island’s highest peak 305 metres above sea level. The clear views for miles around from up here helped defend the island against Ottoman attack. It's a bit of a climb, but well worth it for the stunning views and amazing sunsets.
Corfu
Barbati is a relaxed beach popular with couples and families in a sheltered bay, a 10-minute walk down from the road. It has sparkling, clear, blue waters and is good for swimming and water sports but bring some water shoes to cross the pebbles. There are plenty of sunbeds, umbrellas and nearby places to eat and drink.
