The long and wooded Blue Flag shore is a safe haven of shallows for youngsters and sunbathers alike. For a little more action, banana boats and 'doughnuts' are the fun way to skim across the bay, plus speed boats are for hire to explore some of Corfu's more secluded coves.
From traditional 'plate smashing' tavernas to romantic restaurants, Dassia has some good quality, great value places to eat, besides laid-back snack bars and fast-food takeaways – kebabs come the authentic way here. Complete the night with a glass of wine at one of the charming bars.
Dassia, Corfu
Double rows of sunbeds and parasols line the two kilometres of this sandy and pebbly beach. In the centre is a promenade stretching into the water that allows access to the clear seas. You can take shade in the trees behind the beach, or wander off along the coast to some of the smaller, more secluded bays.
Dassia, Corfu
This elegant island, also known as Kerkyra, has a great Old Town and makes for a good day trip. You can wander its cobbled streets, past the old ladies with their prayer beads, and stop into some marvellous museums or upscale shops. If you want a good view of the ancient fortress, be sure to visit the garden of Bosketo.
Dassia, Corfu
The coastal road runs along the seafront and is a lovely spot for an afternoon walk leading to a late lunch or an evening meal. There are a range of dining options, and seafood is a strong point. Try squid, seabass or bourdeto, a local fish stew that goes down nicely with a cool beer.
