Find out moreThere’s a reason why Albufeira’s one of the Algarve’s most popular resorts – it’s got something for everyone among its golden beaches, whitewashed Old Town and buzzy Strip. Great golf courses? Tick. Neon-lit bars? Yup. Waterparks? You bet. And to top it all off, there are loads of great restaurants offering everything from freshly grilled sardines to international dishes. Did we mention it’s great value for money too?

Albufeira has more than 25 stunning beaches to explore. Many of these gems are Blue Flag winners, offering huge stretches of sweeping golden sands and turquoise waters. Whether you’re looking for a quiet cove or a lively beach scene, you’re sure to find it here. As for the water sports, there are loads on offer. Or you can opt for a boat trip along the coast to spot dolphins or see caves.
Albufeira has plenty in the way of history and heritage. Pay a visit to Paderne Castle, a Moorish stronghold, or check out one of the pretty little churches, like Sant’Ana. If it’s action you’re after, take the kids to Electric Karting Albufeira Marina, or try the thrill rides at Aqualand Algarve waterpark.
Come evening, it’s all about the Strip, a neon stretch of bars and discos pumping out all-night classics. Here you’ll find karaoke, foam parties and big-name DJs. If you’re after something more family-friendly, you can stick to the Old Town, where the cobbled streets are lined with restaurants and cafes.

You’ll find time-worn Ponte Romana Bridge spanning the Arade River that flows to the south of Silves. Wander along the banks to get a great view of this well-preserved structure from the 14th century and its five round arches.

Fisherman's Beach, or Praia dos Pescadores, is overlooked by a small promenade of shops and restaurants beside Albufeira Old Town. You can access the beach by two escalators and there are sunbeds available to hire too. During the summer, this seafront stretch can become pretty crowded, which gives it a fantastic atmosphere.
Albufeira, Algarve
Albufeira's old town is a cobbled, pedestrianised area that's popular with tourists. There are lots of bars and restaurants to suit every taste and budget and the restaurants in the main square have extensive menus. The narrow back streets hold many of the town’s more traditional restaurants and some hidden gems.
