Vera Costa rubs shoulders with the Costa Calida, so it’s no surprise it shares the warm coast’s famously hot climate. In these parts, things are really relaxed so you can easily spend your days basking in the radiant Mediterranean glow until it’s time for tapas in the evening.
This resort’s blessed with scenic beaches that roll on for a sandy 8km. Don’t miss Las Marinas, where you can sink your toes into sands skirting a lush lagoon, home to a host of birdlife. A seafront cycle path makes taking in the vistas a breeze.
Head inland and you’ll stumble across the traditional old village of Vera. Cobbled streets, quaint churches and lamppost-lined squares create a real Spanish feel in this medieval walled town. Back along the coast, try the famous red prawns at Garrucha’s attractive marina or walk to the hilltop haven of Mojacar.
Vera Costa, Costa de Almeria
Ayuntamiento literally means ‘town hall’, and this is a fine example of a 16th-century public building. Its last major renovation was over 200 years ago, so all of what you see is steeped in history. On the ground floor you can visit a museum which explores the town’s folklore and tradition.
Vera Costa, Costa de Almeria
This convent, formed by the little-known religious order of the Minimums, is set out over two floors that you can explore. Take wander round the small courtyard and view the inner cloister. As well as its religious function, you’ll also see that the convent has been, and still is, used as a warehouse for fruits.
Vera Costa, Costa de Almeria
A beautiful golf course with challenging sections and intricate design. It is the first desert golf course in Europe, modelled on Arizona and Californian courses. There are a number of luxury features such as pools, golf schools, restaurants and bars, as well as a spacious clubhouse.
